Yezdi Scrambler: India's First Proper Scrambler in the 300-400cc Category

In 2022, you can finally have a scrambler in the 300-400cc segment and that too, at a budget-friendly price-tag

Yezdi motorcycles are back in the world and the company’s first three motorcycles after 26 years have been launched in the Indian market. The company introduced three Yezdis; a roadster, an ADV, and a scrambler. We are happy to receive all three models, but what excites us the most is the scrambler. After all, it is the first proper scrambler in the Indian market in the 300-400cc segment.

The importance of this article

For years, Indian motorcycle enthusiasts have craved a scrambler in the 300-400cc market. A motorcycle that can be used for daily commuting, but at times, it can be ridden on small-scale off-road terrains. Indeed, Italian brand Benelli tried to penetrate the space with its Leoncino, but the motorcycle lacked certain scramble-style elements plus the hefty price-tag. Therefore, details about the budget-friendly scrambler are worth a read.

The old school style engine casing

The all-new scrambler is powered by a 334cc, single-cylinder, four-stroke, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, DOHC engine that makes a peak power of 29.10PS and 28.20Nm mated to a six-speed gearbox. To us, the numbers are satisfactory and so is the overall engine setup. What we further love about the engine is its boxy-style casing that was seen on the Yezdis of the 80s and 90s.

At an economical price-tag, the scrambler offers several modern-day features

Scramblers are meant to carry the old-school aura and the Yezdi scrambler offers that. However, it also carries a few modern-day features such as an LED headlight and taillight, along with a digital instrument pod that displays gear position. On the handlebar, the scrambler features a USB charger and, for additional safety; it is armed with dual-channel ABS. Not to forget, it has three modes such as rain, road and off-road.

The Yezdi packs decent hardware

To support the scrambler nature of the motorcycle, Yezdi has equipped the motorcycle with a telescopic fork at the front and twin shocks at the rear. To many, the combination may not be drool-worthy (because people prefer USD+mono-shock) but the suspension setup has a long-travel of 150mm (front) and 130mm (rear). When it comes to wheels and tyres, the scrambler is furnished with 19/17-inch spoked rims and block-pattern MRF Zapper Kurve slicks.

Last but not the least, the motorcycle is up for grabs at an ex-showroom price of merely INR 2-2.10 lakh.
