Actor and activist Susan Sarandon has been around Hollywood for a long time and has given cinephiles some groundbreaking characters and roles to watch. Sarandon started her  career with the 1970 drama film Joe and oscillated between films and soap operas. Since the 70s the actress has ruled the screen and donned a wonderful list of characters, from drama to comedy. She has been given numerous accolades such as an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award, and a SAG Award, besides being nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award, six Primetime Emmy Awards, and nine Golden Globe Awards. Bob Roberts

This 1992 satirical mockumentary film is written and directed by Tim Robbins, who also stars in the film. The film is based on a short segment of the same title and features the same character that Robbins portrayed on Saturday Night Live. Set in 1990, the film narrates the story of Robert "Bob" Roberts Jr. played by Tim Robbins, who is a right-wing politician who is a candidate for an upcoming United States Senate election. Susan Sarandon is seen portraying the role of Tawna Titan, a local news anchor for WFAC-TV News

The Company You Keep

This 2012 political thriller film produced, directed by, and starring Robert Redford is based on the novel by Neil Gordon. The plot revolves around a recent widower and single father Jim Grant, played by Redford, who is a former Weather Underground anti-Vietnam War militant wanted for a bank robbery and murder. After his true identity is exposed, he goes into hiding again. The chase leads the FBI to Sharon Solarz, played by Susan Sarandon, another former Weather Underground.

Solitary Man

This 2009 film stars Michael Douglas, Jenna Fischer, and Mary-Louise Parker, besides Susan Sarandon. The film begins with 54-year-old Ben Kalmen, played by Michael Douglas, who is a very successful car dealer in the New York area. But at his annual medical check-up; the doctor tells him he needs a CAT scan to get a better look at his heart.
