Jos Buttler is in the 'orange' of health

Jos Buttler won almost every batting award that was there to be won at the end of IPL 2022.

A sensational season

Orange cap winner Jos Buttler had a brilliant outing in IPL 2022, finishing as the top run scorer in the tournament with 863 runs from 17 matches at an average of 57.53 and a strike rate of almost 150.

What's more is that he smashed four centuries and four half centuries in a single season of the IPL. The way he started, there were whispers of him challenging Virat Kohli's all time IPL record but that wasn't possible after he went through a slump in the middle.

However, he recovered when it really mattered i.e in the playoffs. Unfortunately, he could not go big in the final which dealt the death knell to Rajasthan Royals' hopes of winning their first IPL title after they did so in the inaugural edition under the great late Shane Warne.

RR's pillar

It was courtesy of Buttler that Rajasthan Royals finished as the second best team in the group stage of IPL 2022, winning 9 of their 14 matches. That team lost 5 games but cruised to the final of IPL 2022 with 18 points.

He got the support of Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal as well who played some great knocks but more or less it was the Buttler show and on occasions when he did not fire, Rajasthan Royals found it tough to put enough runs on the board.

At the end of the day, that is a great sign not only for Rajasthan Royals but for England cricket as well. If Buttler can continue his rich vein of form in the upcoming events like the T20 World Cup, it will benefit England and the cricket fans at large.

Making great use of form In fact, when Buttler himself gave a thought to what he had achieved after the dust settled on the IPL, he was very gratified and said that he does realise the enormity of what he has achieved.

It wasn't a surprise then that the in-form man smashed an unbeaten 162 against Netherlands in the record 498 run total that England produced -- the highest in the history of ODI cricket. And, Buttler has his IPL form to thank for it.
