Mexico's Best Tourist Destinations

Mexico has always been a popular vacation spot for North Americans, and recently it has seen a rise in visitors from Europe who comes to soak in the country's year-round warmth, breathtaking landscapes, and gorgeous beaches.

The nation's cultural heritage is the cherry on top of the overall experience; it is a fascinating blend of native people and colonial inspirations from Spain, and it is reflected everywhere, from culinary innovations to lively musical and dancing traditions. Because of its varied topography, which ranges from deserts to tropical rainforests, the nation is also home to abundant plant and animal life. We have compiled a list of the top tourist destinations in Mexico to help you plan the perfect trip.

Cancun

Cancun, Playa del Carmen, the isle of Cozumel, and other popular tourist spots border the stunning coast of the Gulf of Mexico. The collective name for these areas is "Riviera Maya." So it's no surprise that this beautiful stretch of the Yucatán Peninsula's eastern coast brings in millions of tourists annually. With the Riviera's spacious beaches, a seemingly limitless supply of crystal-clear water, and an abundance of top-tier all-inclusive hotels, you won't even notice the crowds. Fun activities abound in the region, including swimming with dolphins and stingrays, exploring coral reefs and tropical fish, and scuba diving amid a remarkable collection of sculptures buried at depths ranging up to eight meters at the world's biggest underwater museum. And, of course, there are the many Mayan ruins in the area; some are even within easy reach of the seashore, while others, like Chichén Itzá and Tulum, are all just a few hours away by car.

Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta is another renowned tourist spot on Mexico's Pacific coast. The city of Vallarta, Mexico, which is sometimes abbreviated to "Vallarta," initially came to prominence in the 1960s as a pastime for the social elite of North America, and it has since become a favorite destination for foreigners wishing to retire or buy a second home in a warmer environment. However, there are still large stretches of it that haven't been affected by the modern world. Thanks to the city's various attractions, Puerto Vallarta is visited by many tourists, from families hoping to relax on the beach to young people seeking adventure in the form of parasailing and jet skiing.

Los Cabos

One of Mexico's most famous beach towns in Los Cabos, or "Cabo," is located at the southernmost point of the stunning Baja Peninsula. The Los Cabos Corridor is a 30-kilometer stretch of coastline between the cities of Cabo San Lucas & San José del Cabo that is popular among tourists for its crystal-clear seas, diving, snorkeling, and fishing. There are now many resorts to choose from, including spa resorts and golf resorts with some of the top courses in America. However, luxury tourists are Los Cabos' target audience. It's one of Mexico's most opulent metropolises.

Copper Canyon

The magnificent Copper Canyon can be found in Chihuahua, located in northern Mexico, and shares a border alongside New Mexico in the United States (Barranca del Cobre). Located in the Sierra Madre Occidental, Copper Canyon is a stunning network of canyons more extensive and profound than its more famous relative, the Grand Canyon. These spectacular natural formations were carved out by six rivers that meet just at Rio Fuerte before emptying into the Gulf of California, and they get their name from the striking copper-green coloring that runs down the high canyon walls.
