Some ways to get along with your boss.

The cordial, productive relationship between an employee and a boss is key to any organization’s success.

Did you know that a study conducted by experts revealed that almost one-third of the participants shared that the main cause of stress in their workplace is because of their boss or manager? And as they say, people don’t really leave the job; they leave their bosses. But this thinking and running won’t solve anything. Because at the end of the day, your boss can be your key to progressing not only in your own organization but also in the long run. So, if you are seriously thinking about working on your relationship with your boss, just keep in mind the following tips.

Communicate more often.

More than relying on e-mails, try to communicate with your boss or manager face to face. Let them know what are you currently working on, what are their inputs? What is that they want from you in a particular project. Mostly the lack of communication plies on creating misunderstanding and rift. Try to schedule a meeting with your boss at least once a month face to face.

Try to match the way they communicate.

It is important here to understand that every person behaves and works in a different way. Since your boss is like your mentor so you should try to adjust and match with their communication style. Does your boss like meticulous and detailed presentations, or does he/she prefer the outline of the project and trust you to do the rest? Try to understand their way of working and do your best to match with that.

Get some tips from other co-workers.

Try to observe and, if possible, get tips from a co-worker who gets along very well with your boss. Get an insight into how they work together. This way, you would know exactly what your boss wants from a subordinate and how you can work on achieving that.

Try to communicate with your boss on a bit personal level.

Keep in mind, your boss is human too and is trying to work for the betterment of the organization and his career. Try to look at his decision from his point of view. Also, do communicate with him/her on a personal level. By that, we don’t mean that you suddenly become a backslapping buddy but asking how they or their family is doing helps you connect more.

And lastly, try not to be obsessed with finding faults with your boss. May you are the problem all along.
