Top individual ODI scores in South Africa

Only two batsmen have scored in excess of 180 in South Africa - Fakhar Zaman and Faf du Plessis. Fakhar Zaman 193 Fakhar Zaman smashed an eye catching 193 off just 155 balls in the second ODI of the three match series between Pakistan and South Africa in Johannesburg. Zaman batted at a strike rate of 124 and struck 18 fours and 10 sixes during his stay at the crease.

Had he not been run out in the last over, Pakistan had a slim hope of chasing down the massive total of 342, but that was not to be. Despite not being able to complete his double century and take Pakistan over the line, Fakhar Zaman registered a feat that day. He became the top individual scorer in an ODI innings in South Africa, getting past Faf du Plessis' record of 185.

Faf du Plessis 185 Former South African captain Faf du Plessis made 185 against Sri Lanka at Cape Town in February 2017 to register the highest individual score by an ODI batsman in South Africa at the time. The batsman faced 141 deliveries and struck 18 fours and 3 sixes while batting at the strike rate of 131.20.

Quinton de Kock 178 Quinton de Kock is famous for his big scores. The wicket keeper batsman struck 178 off 113 deliveries against Australia at Centurion in September 2016 and smashed 16 fours and 11 sixes while batting at a strike rate of 157.52. In fact, he was the highest run scorer in an innings in ODIs in South Africa when he hit 178. The record was broken a few months later by du Plessis.

AB de Villiers 176 How could AB de Villiers not be a part of a batting list that has anything to do with South Africa. The 360 degree batsman clubbed 176 in no time against Bangladesh at Paarl in October 2017.

Unlike the innings of Quinton de Kock or du Plessis, who showed their class in a chase, de Villiers set up the match with his 176 run knock. With South Africa batting first, he hit 15 fours and 7 sixes in his innings and batted Bangladesh out of the game single-handedly.

Herschelle Gibbs 175 Herschelle Gibbs made 175 off 111 balls at a strike rate of 157.65. He registered the feat against Australia at Johannesburg in 2006. The knock was a highlight, particularly given the time period in which it was scored.
