5 examples of deviant social behavior that has been acceptable

Actions that are not anymore that much of a taboo in society!

In today's world, societal norms and expectations have shifted, and what was once deemed as deviant behavior may no longer be viewed as such. This can be seen in many different aspects of our daily lives, from the way we dress, the things we eat, to the way we interact with others. Here are five examples of deviant social behavior that have become acceptable in our society.

Tattoos and body piercings

Gone are the days when tattoos and piercings were only associated with delinquents and criminals. Today, tattoos and piercings are considered fashionable and are even embraced in certain workplaces. This shift can be attributed to the rise of the acceptance of individual expression, as well as the media and celebrity culture, which has helped normalize these forms of body modification.

Social media oversharing

Social media platforms have become the norm for sharing everything, from our personal experiences, emotions, and even the minutiae of our daily lives. Although oversharing used to be considered as inappropriate or annoying, today, it's the norm. Sharing personal experiences on social media platforms has even been seen as an act of empowerment, creating communities of like-minded individuals and even helping to promote mental health and well-being.

Living together without marriage

Cohabiting without marriage was once taboo, and often stigmatized. However, this norm has drastically changed over time. Today, it's common for couples to live together without getting married, especially with the rising cost of weddings and increasing rates of divorce.

Not having children

The traditional expectation of marriage is that it should lead to children, but in the modern world, many couples choose to forgo parenthood altogether. Society has become more accepting of those who choose not to have children and prioritize other aspects of their lives. This acceptance is primarily attributed to a rise in individualism and awareness about issues such as overpopulation, climate change, and gender equality.

Casual Hookups

Hookup culture has become more prominent and accepted in modern society. Although casual sex has always existed, today's culture has a greater acceptance of hookups, casual flings, and one-night stands. While this has always been a taboo subject, media representations and the rise of hookup apps such as Tinder have helped to normalize it. In conclusion, it's evident that deviant behavior, as viewed in the past, is now viewed as acceptable in our society. We live in a world that has changed tremendously over the past few decades, and our values, beliefs, and attitudes towards different behaviors have shifted. We must remember that societal norms and values are ever-changing, and what is viewed as deviant behavior now may become normalized in the future. It's important to keep an open mind and recognize that society and its values are fluid and adaptable to the changing world around us.
