AutoBiz: Sales Figure This Year so far

At the beginning of the year, several companies have witnessed a positive growth whereas a few went downhill

The first month of the year 2021 has gone by and two-wheeler companies have shared their positive and negative sales growth so far. As per reports, the domestic sales for the two-wheeler industry have witnessed a positive growth of 6.5 per cent in the month of January. In the first month of the year, 14,23,629 units have been sold as compared to 13,36,204 units sold in January 2020. In the export section, 32.05 per cent growth has been witnessed so far. In January 2020, 2,78,579 units were sold whereas this year, the number is up by 3,67,872.

Domestic sales leader

The domestic sales leader at the moment is Hero MotoCorp because the company has already sold 4,67,776 in January 2021. However, this number is down by -4.16 per cent because, in January 2020, the company was able to sell a total of 4,88,069 units. Yet, the company is leading the domestic sales chart and continues to rely on its commuter models such as the Splendor and HF Deluxe. Not to forget, a market share of 32.86 per cent is enjoyed by the Delhi-based Hero MotoCorp.

Export leader

In the export region, Bajaj Auto is the undefeated leader. The Chakan-based two-wheeler company that offers numerous high-end sports motorcycles in the nation enjoys a massive market share of 61.85 per cent. In January 2021, the company exported 2,27,532 units as compared to 1,74,546 of January 2020. The rise in the units sold demonstrates a 30.36 per cent year-over-year growth.

Domestic sales rank

As mentioned in the second paragraph, Hero MotoCorp leads the way in the domestic sales category. The second rank is held by Honda as the company has sold 4,16,716 units in January 2021. In January 2020, the company sold 3,74,114 units. Over the years, Honda has ruled the domestic circuit with its Activa scooter range along with the Dio and commuter CB-Shine.

The third position is secured by TVS Motor Company and the company’s year-over-year sales have gone up by 25.89 per cent. The company has sold 2,05,216 units in January 2021 as opposed to 1,63,077 units in January 2020. Over the years, the company’s Apache series, Ntorq, Jupiter and the XL moped has been the bestsellers.

The fourth position has been secured by Bajaj Auto while the fifth, sixth and seventh positions are obtained by Royal Enfield, Suzuki and Yamaha, respectively.
