Braking Point: F1 Game's First-Ever Story Mode

In the 2021 version of the Formula One video game, there is a story mode similar to the one found in the FIFA and NFL video games

The first Formula One video game was launched in 2000. 21 years later, the game received its first-ever storyline mode from Codemasters and EA Sports; the game’s developer and publisher, respectively. From the house of EA Sports, F1 2021 is the third video game to feature a story mode after FIFA and NFL Madden. Not to forget, F1 2021 game one of the best racing games ever launched.

Why is this article important?

For decades, gamers who are into sports games have craved story modes. For them, playing the sport was not enough. They wanted to live the life of virtual characters, on and off the field. From performing well in the sports to managing external affairs, gamers wanted all. A few years ago, FIFA and NFL gifted the gamers exactly what they wanted and now, it is F1.

Aiden Jackson and Casper Akkerman, the main characters of Braking Point

F1 2021’s story mode is named Braking Point, and the story revolves around two characters; Aiden Jackson and Casper Akkerman. Aiden Jackson is the rookie racer of the team, whereas Casper Akkerman is the oldie. A gamer will have to race against other competitors using both the racers. Several objectives must be completed. If not done, the storyline will not move forward.

The storyline of Braking Point

Inside the game, Aiden Jackson is the rookie debutant driver who is trying to establish his name in the world of F1. On the other hand, Akkerman is the oldie who is trying to prove that he has still got some flame left in him. At the beginning of the plot, the two get into a tussle and the storyline develops around the issue.

Devon Butler, the antagonist of Braking Point

Apart from Jackson and Akkerman, another important character is Devon Butler; a young driver who is the reason behind the tussle between Jackson and Akkerman. In the game, Butler aims to drive for Mercedes and so does Jackson. Therefore, Butler ruins the relationship between Akkerman and Jackson in a bid to ruin Jackson’s performance and results. However, the protagonist Butler ends up in a terrible crash at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the last race of the season.

Last but not the least, at the start of the storyline, one gets to select a team from five options: AlphaTauri, Alfa Romeo, BWT/Aston Martin, Haas, and Williams.
