Foods You Should Never Eat After Having Mangoes

We all dread the sweltering summer months, but the one thing we love is the arrival of the king of fruits—mangoes. So, it isn’t unusual for people to ditch their diets to enjoy mangoes.

All around the world, mangoes are revered for their flavor and fragrance. You can enjoy mango in salsa, pickles, shakes, and even desserts; this fruit always wins when it comes to pleasing the taste buds. However, despite the rising demand for relishing this tropical, pulpy, and highly aromatic fruit, it is essential to be mindful of what you consumeafter and before having mangoes.

Bitter gourd

While both mangoes and bitter gourd are nutritious, consuming them one after the other is not recommended. Bitter gourd tastes bitter, and it can cause an imbalance in your body. When sweet and acidic mangoes are consumed with or after bitter gourd, it may cause digestive problems like acid reflux, indigestion, vomiting, nausea, and inflammation of the digestive tract.

Spicy Food

During the summer months, many people like to enjoy mangoes after lunch. But, when this delicious and pulpy fruit is consumed with spicy delicacies, it can induce digestive issues like acidity, stomach upset, and heartburn. Mangoes have acids and high natural sugars and can result in an increased production of stomach acid. If you eat spicy food after mangoes, it can aggravate the irritation in the stomach's lining, resulting in inflammation and discomfort.

Curd

Yogurt or curd is a dairy product, and many people like to have it with mangoes. However, consuming yogurt with mangoes or after having this acidic fruit is not recommended. The reason is that mangoes are rich in citric acid, causing the milk proteins in the yogurt to coagulate, resulting in digestive issues like gas and bloating. The mango and yogurt combination also leads to heat production in the body, causing discomfort.

Soft Drinks

Mangoes have a high content of natural sugar, and having soft drinks soon after consuming mangoes can disturb the digestion processresulting in discomfort and bloating. Soft drinks can also alter the temperature of the stomach suddenly, adversely impacting the functioning of the natural digestive enzymes and their potential to split food.

Water

One should not gulp down water soon after having mangoes. Sipping water after eating mangoes can make you sick. The natural sugars and acids in mangoes can surge the production of stomach acid, and drinking water immediately after eating mangoes can weaken the stomach acid, making it more difficult for the body to dissolve the food.

Enjoy your mangoes the right way to avoid falling sick!
