Sherlock, created by Steve Moffat and Mark Gatiss, is a BBC's television series that is popular all over the globe. This detective series is a modern take on the work of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and has achieved a cult fan following. While Sherlock Holmes is their most loved character, the series features some amazing villians that too are popular.

BBC's Sherlock is famous for its extremely twisted plot, complex narrative and brainy characters. The protagonist of the show, Sherlock Holmes, brilliantly portrayed by the talented Benedict Cumberbatch has a cult fan following all over the world. His adventure and cat mouse chase with some deadly villains is the heart of the show. The series is extremely popular for creating some of the most dangerous villains who can overcome any obstacles to achieve their notorious goals. Let's talk about them.

Jim Moriarty

Jim Moriarty, based on the character Professor Moriarty, is arguably the most dangerous and most loved character from the series. He made his entry in the end of the first season and is a recurring character who is there in every season. Jim Moriarty is cunning, witty and he is way ahead of others, sometimes Sherlock. He is known as the mastermind and calls himself 'consulting criminal' who gives advices to fellow criminals and provide them with classified information. Jim Moriarty single handedly troubles Sherlock and their cat and mouse chase makes the best sequences of the show. The character is breath to life by Andrew Scott, a brilliant actor who gave every required nuance and emotion to the character.

Irene Adler

Sherlock Holmes is someone who always has answers to the questions but the detective has to think about his deduction power twice after meeting Irene Adler. Powerful, dominating and the mistress who loves to bring people on their knees, is affectionately known as The Women. Irene Adler is someone who knows everyone's secrets and blackmails high class people, including the royal family members. She appeared in the second season of the series but returned in cameo roles in different seasons. Irene Adler is again, superbly lived by the actress, Lara Pulver.

Culverton Smith

Culverton Smith is the darkest and the grittiest villain of the show. He makes his entry in the fourth season and manages to almost kill Sherlock. A psychopath who knows nothing but to defeat everyone, he crosses the limits and plays with the mind of Sherlock. The character is portrayed by Toby Jones who plays the role of a rich philanthropist and a maniac with equal ease.
