Hacks to avoid wastage of food.

We know that the three basic needs to live are food, clothes and shelter; so, we must respect them.

Food wastage is one of the many problems that the planet is facing. So, by taking steps for reducing food wastage, we are directly showing legitimate interest in serving our environment. So, by reducing the wastage of food, we are saving money. According to the survey report, almost 1.3 billion tons of food gets wasted every year.

Preserving food to meet the hunger of needy people doesn’t require extra effort. We can follow the below steps to reduce food wastage.

Do not stock up your refrigerator without making any consideration. Visiting the market, we might find that fruits and vegetables are on sale, which means extra cheap. So, what do we do? Stock it up for eternity? No! It is true that during sales, we get way too emotional and stop thinking about practicality. This way, we might be taking products out of the market, but the excess greengrocers might end up in the dustbin. Therefore, shop and freeze the essentials as required.

We can wrap the herbs and other greens to avoid wastage. It is a fantastic trick that I learnt a few days back. According to the kitchen experts, if we wrap the herbs in a foil, plastic wrap or paper bag and freeze it, it remains fresh for a longer time. Similarly, try putting turmeric, ginger and chillies in zip-locked freezer baggies for increasing their longevity.

We must check our stock regularly and separate the spoilage immediately. It is one of the disadvantages of excess storage-we lose track of things. As a result, products might get expired, or greengrocers might rot. So, add “Check the refrigerator and other stocks” to your routine.

Planning the upcoming week is one of the best hacks to reduce food wastage. This way, we can save the environment and save money. We must maintain the balance between products we might use in the upcoming days versus the unnecessary products.

Do not throw out the extra food in the dustbin. As we know, some organizations took the responsibility to collect the leftover food and distribute it among the needy. So, we can contact them to donate the extra food (not the one that somebody left on the plate). It feels good to help somebody sleep with a full stomach.

These are the few tips that you can follow to avoid wasting food.
