If you love Robert De Niro, watch these movies

There is nothing that this actor par excellence can’t do

There are only a few actors who can give any other actor from any country the run for their money. Among them is Hollywood’s legendary actor Robert Anthony De Niro Jr. In a career spanning over five decades the actor has done many iconic films. One of the most celebrated actors, he has been the recipient of multiple awards, including two Academy Awards, a Golden Globe Award and, the Cecil B. DeMille Award. Here is a list of a few of his films that you watch over the weekend.

Cape Fear In this1991 film as Max Cady - a deranged man - the actor effortlessly shows what it takes for Cady to be a violent rapist out for revenge against his lawyer, who hid evidence in Cady's prior conviction. The story picks up when Cady armed with the knowledge of the law makes moves to destroy his lawyer's life. The movie is a remake but stands apart from Martin Scorsese’s direction style and De Niro's cinematic transformation.

The Untouchables In this star-studded 1987 crime drama, De Niro heads to play one of the biggest real-life mobsters of all time, a prohibition-era gang leader Al Capone. This movie put forward for the makers and the audience, how much of De Niro's performance influences this film. His dedication can be seen with him even reducing his hairline and wore extra padding to look the part. The veteran actor perfectly captures the volatility and psychological nuances of a mobster.

Casino This 1995 Martin Scorsese’s ambitious entertaining project stars De Niro as Sam “Ace” Rothstein, a Jewish American gangster who is placed in-charge of a casino in Las Vegas. The fun fact being his character is based on real-life mafioso Frank Rosenthal. And although Ace is at his best trying to resist the temptations of Sin City, it destroys him revealing his inner rage. Be it putting forth his inner rage or just interacting with co-actors Sharon Stone or Joe Pesci, De Niro is electric in every scene. For some critics comparing it to the Goodfellas, the film is less of a mob film.

Once Upon A Time In America This 1984 four-hour epic chronicles five decades of lives of childhood friends who grow up together to eventually become gangsters. De Niro plays David “Noodles” Aaronson a Jewish mobster. Director Sergio Leone shot the film for nine months and had almost 10 hours of material. In fact, he had turned down the opportunity to direct The Godfather to work on this masterpiece.

De Niro is particularly known for his nine collaborations with filmmaker Martin Scorsese for films like Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, and many others.
