We all love a good movie after a tiring day and what’s better than a historical one?

In India there are a lot of historical events and some have made it to the Indian cinemas. The cinematography of such movies is so magnificent that you will feel you are there in that moment. So in this blog I will tell you about some of the epic Indian historical movies that have made it to the big screens.

The Legend of Bhagat Singh: Depicting the Heroic act of Bhagat Singh

India is a land of freedom fighters and Bhagat Singh was one of the most noteworthy freedom fighters in India. This national award winning movie by Rajkumar Santoshi has been a masterpiece that depicted every bit of impactful moments in the life of Bhagat Singh and the Indian struggle for freedom. In this movie Ajay Devgan played the role of Bhagat Singh and he has surely done justice to the character.

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose the Forgotten Hero: The Movie Depicting the Freedom Struggle of Netaji

Even though it is a biopic, it depicts the historic events revolving the life of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. ShyamBenegal has brought forward the struggles that Netaji faced and his unmatched zeal to make India free has been vividly shown in the movie. Starting from leaving the Indian National Congress and forming Azad Hind Fauz to marching through the jungle and driving away the British forces, the movie shows it all.

Chittagong: An Uprising that Shook the British Empire

Yes it is a place in Bangladesh but not during the time of the Britishers. The name of the movie has been derived from the famous historical event Chittagong armory raid and the uprising against Britishers that spewed its way up. This has been a multi starrer Bollywood movie with the lead actor Manoj Bajpai playing the role of Masterda Surya Sen, who headed the uprising.

Asoka: The Film that Shows the Transformation of Asoka

This Shah Rukh Khan Starrer movie is one of his finest, where he played the role of Asoka, a fearsome and brutal king of Mauryan Empire who killed anyone that tried to invade his kingdom. The film shows how he realised the wrongs that he had done in his life and transformed himself to a Buddhist after the war of Kalinga.

These are the top movies in my list that depict the impactful events from the history books. What’s on your list?
