Along with story ideas, Bollywood also hired south Indian actors many times to act in Bollywood as they are very good actors. Here is the list of a few south Indian actors who left their mark in Bollywood also.
Kamal Haasan
Much before Prabhas, Kamal Haasan can be considered as the first Pan-India star who made it big in both South and Bollywood.
Kamal Haasan was a known name in Tamil Film Industry who gave many successful movies there. He made his debut in Bollywood with EkDujeKeLiye in 1981 which was a big success and after that, he acted in more successful movies like Sanam Teri Kasam, Sagar, and Giraftar. Later he moved back to Tamil Industry and barring Chachi 420 in the 90s he didn’t do many Bollywood movies but he left a lasting impression in Bollywood with his movies.
Rajnikanth
Rajnikanth is undoubtedly one of the biggest stars in India ever and he has the reputation of a demi-God in the Tamil Film Industry. He did quite a few Bollywood movies also.
Rajnikanth was a big star in Tamil Nadu when he made his debut in Bollywood with Andha Kanoon. The movie also had HemaMalini and Amitabh Bachchan in important roles. After the success of AndhaKanoon,Rajnikanth worked in some more Bollywood movies like Giraftar, Hum, Chaalbaaz and Bulandi. He left a lasting impression in Bollywood movies with his style and swag.
Madhavan
Madhavan is probably the only actor who worked extensively in both the Tamil film industry and Bollywood.
Madhavan made his debut in Bollywood opposite Dia Mirza in the cult movie Rehna Hai TereDil Mein. He was first discovered by Mani Ratnam on television who offered him a movie and that is how his acting career in movies took off. While doing quite a few movies in the South, he also did outstanding Hindi films like Rang De Basanti, 3 Idiots, and Tanu Weds Manu.
Siddharth Narayan
Siddharth is a Tamil movie star who made his debut with Shankar’s Boys and did quite a few successful movies in Tamil and Telegu. He impressed everyone with his acting in Rang De Basanti.
South star Siddharth made his debut in Bollywood with the highly successful movie Rang De Basanti where he acted alongside Aamir Khan, Kunal Kapoor, Sharman Joshi, Atul Kulkarni, and Madhavan. Rang De Basanti can be considered a milestone movie in Bollywood and Siddharth nailed the character of Karan Singhania with his performance and swag. His performance in the movie was appreciated a lot but he did not do many Bollywood movies after that barring Striker and ChasmeBaddoor.
