The decline of interpersonal relationships due to advancement in technology.

We live in the era of mass media, where we are introduced to new technologies every day. We see changes everywhere- production, education, manufacturing and even communication.

Communication is a necessity for the human species that we use daily. It is the process using which people exchange information or share ideas via different modes. With the changing technology, communication has become smooth and more efficient.

Today, to run any business or organisation successfully, advanced communication systems have been an integral part. It is because technology removed the barriers and decreased the time required by the traditional communication system.

With the new and improved technology, we have different communication options to choose from- text messaging, video conferencing, social media, etc. We are blessed to get an updated version to communicate, but it has certain disadvantages too. In the changing world, where everything is shifting online, the interpersonal relationships among humans are getting affected. We can see observatory changes among us.

It decreased our chances to go out and meet new friends. With social media in our hands, we hardly allow ourselves to communicate with someone in person. It has made finding companions so easier that we hardly care to walk around in the neighbourhood and talk to new people.

We are losing the ability to hold conversations without the help of technology. We choose to communicate in the way we are more comfortable with, mostly text messaging. This way, we are moving backwards as we are losing the capacity to hold a verbal conversation.

It has taken away the happiness of weekend meetups among friends and family. We stay online 24*7. Surfing online, we hardly get the energy to go out and spend some quality time with our loved ones. Today we find our happy moments by sharing pictures and screenshots of video calls or call-time duration. We equate our happiness to online and online presence.

We are dependent on social media to express ourselves. Today, we feel a sense of shyness or coyness to express our feelings for anybody in person. We even find it comfortable to confront or take up a fight over a phone call, text messaging or social media.

It gives rise to issues such as cyberbullying. Online communication might be a blessing for us, but some of them use it as a tool to torment a person by staying behind any fake identity. Technology has made it easier to perform a cybercrime as it is easier to lie or cheat someone virtually. Although, we have cyber security cells to our rescue which deals with such criminal activities.
