These food combinations went viral last year.

Food is one of our best friends, which comforts us through thick and thins.

Well, the last year was strangely amusing for most of us. We had vaccines, Facebook got its new name- Meta, some of our favourite celebrities tied the knot, and we enjoyed another year of work from home. But, while we stayed back home, watching viral videos and trying them was one of our favourite past-times. Similarly, last year, we got to see many experimental recipes that went viral with time. Some of them tasted good, while others were completely bizarre.

Let us get a quick recap of those weird food combinations from last year’s viral diary.

Oreo Maggi has to top the list as it contains two of the most loved snacks in India.

There is a possible chance that the person who started it went out of poultry or vegetables to mix into the noodle. Instead, the person had packets of Oreo on the kitchen counter. I have a question in mind for ‘that person’: How on Earth did you think to mix cream-filled cookies with boiling noodles?

When bored with traditional biryani recipes, try out the newest in the market- Chocolate Biryani. It all started when a video from Karachi, Pakistan, went viral on YouTube. It was a video by a food vlogger who deliberately went to a food stall selling Chocolate Biryani. I am not sure about how it tasted, but I strictly restrained myself from trying this bizarre food combination. You can always check the video on YouTube- type ‘Chocolate Biryani Karachi’.

Okay! So, now we have Detox Idlis too. A food stall in Nagpur sells this black coloured idlis, topped with a spoon full of ghee and coconut chutney. The recipe went viral after the food vloggers posted a video recording the procedure. They did taste it and gave a thumbs up! In my opinion, we can give it a try because we have high hopes with coconut chutney and ghee.

A Delhi man went viral by making Parle-G Barfi. He fried these biscuits using desi ghee and prepared the base by adding milk and sugar. Once prepared, he sprinkled dry fruits on top. Honestly, watching the video of India’s loved staple convert into barfi was unacceptable. It made me realize the struggle of being a food vlogger. I mean, tasting these weird combinations requires immense dedication. Hats off!

Last but not least, we have Potato Chips Curry. If I am not wrong, the person who thought about putting fried potato chips in an Indian curry did it by mistake. The person shared it with others because it might taste good. I mean, there is a possibility. So, why not give it a try.
