People wear contact lenses for a lot of reasons. Some just can’t stand forgetting about their glasses every time they get out of the house. Some wear contact lenses because their glasses are too thick. Some wear contact lenses because they make their eyes look pretty. Whatever your reason for wearing contact lenses may be, there are certain things you should consider keeping in mind while wearing contact lenses. Not only is it important to take care of the lenses well, but there are also certain habits to avoid while wearing the lenses. Here are a few things you should be mindful of while wearing your contact lenses.

Do Not Touch Your Contact Lenses With Dirty Hands

You don’t put a dirty finger into your eye, do you? By the same logic, don’t touch your lenses with a dirty hand. Touching your contact lenses with dirty hands could lead to infections and even cause damage to your eye. The germs on your hands could cause some serious damage to your eyes. In order to avoid that, make sure to wash your hands thoroughly before you touch your contact lens. Also, let your hands dry first after washing them before you touch the contact lenses.

Don’t Let Sweat Or Sunscreen Get Into The Eyes

Avoid wearing contact lenses if you will be outdoors maybe on a run or doing something where you will possibly sweat a lot. However, if you still wear your contact lenses on such occasions try keeping your sweat and your sunscreen from getting into your eyes. The sweat could melt the sunscreen that will get into your eyes and both the sweat and the sunscreen are harmful for your contact lenses and in turn for your eyes. The chemicals from the sunscreen and the germs in your sweat will pose serious threat to your eyes. To prevent this, tie up your hair or wear a sweatband.

Don’t Swim With Your Lenses On

It is an absolute negative for swimming with your contact lenses on. The reason being, there are chemicals and bacteria in the water of the swimming pool that could cause damage to your lenses. As a result, they might lead to some serious damage to your eyes.
