Vegetables are a must in our diet, and it's a widely established fact. Be it leafy greens or cruciferous vegetables, they help improve our overall health to a great extent. But as it turns out, most people today don't get enough time to cook those vegetables regularly and end up eating an imbalanced diet. So, if you are struggling with the same, do read ahead to learn some simple yet effective methods to cook vegetables in a very quick time.

Chop them into small pieces

Instead of cooking whole vegetables, you can always chop them into small pieces. This will speed up the cooking process, and also make it easier for you to eat. But make sure to use a sharp knife to reduce the risk of bacterial growth.

Boil them for a few minutes

Boiling is one of the quickest methods to cook vegetables. This allows the heat to transfer effectively, thus speeding up the entire cooking process. All you need to do is add some equal-sized vegetables into a saucepan of boiling water, cover them, and leave it until they just get tender. The good choices are broccoli, broad beans, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, green beans, kale, peas, silverbeet, spinach, etc.

Steam them until crisp-tender

Steaming is a good option if you don't want to boil your vegetables. This is quick, and also retains colors, flavors, and almost all the essential nutrients. First, pour water into a pot and keep it under the steamer basket. Bring the water to a boil, and then add even pieces of vegetables into that. Leave it until they become tender and bright in color. It's suitable for veggies like broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, asparagus, green beans, bok choy, and more.

Sauté them in a non-stick skillet

Sautéing is another quick method to cook vegetables. Also, this allows the veggies to retain their original flavors. First, put a non-stick skillet (with a large surface area) on high heat. Add some oil, salt, and aromatics (such as onion, garlic, ginger, etc.) to the skillet and stir for around 5 minutes. Then, add the equal-sized vegetables and stir until they're cooked. It's mostly suitable for spinach, asparagus, green beans, etc.

Stir fry them on high heat

This method takes around 30 minutes to cook vegetables. First, keep a large, non-stick skillet on high heat for a couple of minutes. Then, add chopped vegetables, oil, and other aromatics like garlic, ginger, curry leaves, etc. Now, keep stirring until the veggies turn bright and crisp-tender. It works best for broccoli, cabbage, potatoes, and more.
