Few Times When Bollywood Movies Showed Us Fake Locations While Shooting in Entirely Different Places

Movies are a different world outside the real world that takes us on a journey of various characters for 2 or 3 hours. Bollywood movies are quite famous for shooting in different places but there have been instances where the shooting was done in some other place and shown as a different place in the movie. It’s mostly done due to budget and many more things like not getting shooting permission in the real place, weather being bad, etc. Here are a few movies that showed us fake locations while shooting in entirely different places.

Hum Dil De ChukeSanam

Hum Dil De ChukeSanam was a 1999 movie directed by Sanjay LeelaBhansali and starring Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Aishwarya Rai. It was one of the biggest hits of that year.

In the movie, it was shown that Sameer (Salman Khan) is from Italy but the scenes showing Italy were actually shot in Budapest, Hungary. The reason is unknown but most probably it may be because of budget constraints. Later in the movie, Nandini (Aishwarya Rai) and Vanraj (Ajay Devgn) go to Italy to search for Sameer but in reality, the entire second of was shot in Budapest. In one scene you can notice the iconic Chain Bridge in the backdrop.

YehJawaani Hai Deewani

YehJawaani Hai Deewani was a coming of age movie directed by AyanMukerjee featured Ranbir Kapoor and DeepikaPadukone Aditya Roy Kapoor and KalkiKoechin

Remember the scenes where the whole gang of Bunny (Ranbir Kapoor) goes on a trek to Manali and you must have fallen in love with the scenic locations there but wait, what is shown as Manali in the movie was actually Gulmarg as the team of the movie could not find places with snow in Manali and nearby areas. Of course, some scenes were shot in Manali like the scene with Hidimba Mata temple but mostly it was Gulmarg.

Mary Kom

Mary Kom starring Priyanka Chopra in the titular role was a biopic on the famous female boxer Mary Kom from Manipur.

If you were captivated by the scenic places shown in Mary Kom and planning to visit there, then there is a catch. The whole movie was shot in Dharamshala and Manali. It was done because of safety concerns and the makers recreated Manipur in Dharamshala and Manali instead.

Chennai Express

Chennai Express was a movie directed by Rohit Shetty and starred Shahrukh Khan and DeepikaPadukone in the lead roles.

If the beautiful aerial shots of Rameswaram made you crave a holiday there then it’s sorry to inform you that it was Wai instead. Wai, near Pune, is very well-known for its Dhom Dam Lake and a big part of the film was shot there. Remember the scene where the whole village comes to take Shahrukh Khan and DeepikaPadukone back to the village and the beautiful waterfall behind? Well, that was Doodhsagar in Goa and not Tamil Nadu as shown in the movie.
