Maintenance Tips For Infinity Pools

From the edge of the pool to infinity and beyond!

Infinity pools have easily become the next big thing in the modern living style. Almost every resort, hotel or house you go to that has a modern interior done, will definitely have an infinity pool. Infinity pools are relaxing and unlike your ordinary swimming pool does not seem like they are an enclosed aquatic space. An infinity pool is a swimming pool that has a vanishing edge. This means, the illusion created would make you feel like you have become one with the horizon or floating above the landscape. As cool as infinity pools are, they require proper maintenance and care. Here are a few tips to maintain an infinity pool well.

Clean The Catch Basin Regularly

Here’s how an infinity pool works –the water in the brim is filled up to the brim such that the water overflows from one of the edges and fall down forming an illusion of a pool that has no edge. What we don’t see is that there’s a second basin that catches the water that overflows and then brings is it back into the system. This second basin is called the catch basin. The catch basin needs a regular cleaning like the rest of the pool in order to keep it good and working and to prevent the formation of any buildup. Also, make sure to pay special attention to the suction system of the catch basin in order to prevent it from getting clogged which would otherwise block the whole system.

Keep An Eye On The Water Level And Chemistry

The water in an infinity pool evaporates faster than in a traditional pool because it overflows the edge, goes into the catch basin after which is fed back into the system. In order to keep the water flow smooth in your infinity pool, make sure to keep the level of water intact all the time. Top it off with water every time the level goes down. Also, check the pH level of the water in the pool regularly to keep it clean and safe for use.

Check The Pump

The pump is vital to the infinity pool as it helps in the smooth flow of the water from the catch basin and into the pool. Check the pump regularly for its performance and immediately consult a technician when you find something wrong.
