With the much-awaited Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list unveiled, three Indian restaurants have made the cut.
The much-awaited list — Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2023 — has finally been released, and guess what? Three Indian restaurants have made the cut. Mumbai’s fine dining restaurant Masque, Chennai’s Avartana and Delhi’s Indian Accent are the three eateries that have made it to the list. However, Megu, a restaurant at The Leela New Delhi, which debuted on the list last year at number 48, did not feature this year.
Mumbai’s fine dining restaurant Masque, located within one of Mumbai’s old textile mills, is an ingredient-driven restaurant led by entrepreneur Aditi Dugar. The menu of the restaurant is an amalgamation of tradition and innovation, and as seasons change, the menus change too. Masque, which was ranked 21 last year, rose to rank of 16 at the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2023 list, clearly witnessing a growth from its rank of 32 before last year.
Meanwhile, coming to other Asian countries, Bangkok had the maximum top rated restaurants, and nine of the city's restaurants made it to the list. The number one restaurant — Le Du — is also located in Bangkok, so is Nussara – ranked at number 3, and Gaggan Anand at number 5.
In terms of countries, Japan has the maximum number of restaurants — 10 — featuring on the top 50 list, and following Japan is Singapore with 9 restaurants mentioned in the Top 50 list. South Korea’s capital Seoul, too, has four restaurants on the list.
