During the reign of Akbar, India’s GDP per capita was equivalent to Elizabethan England, but there was a difference as in India the wealth is possessed mostly by the ruling class. That makes Indian emperors richer than their counterparts in Europe. Mughal Dynasty followed the mansabdar system according to which the state takes a certain amount of money from the public. It’s more or less like the tax we pay nowadays to the government.
